HISTORY

The 17th International Conference on the Physics of Non-Crystalline Solids (PNCS17)

The International Conference on the Physics of Non-Crystalline Solids is an international forum for the discussion of the most recent developments in the physics of non-crystalline solid materials. The conference was initiated in 1958 at Alfred University by Prof. V. D. Frechette, and has been continued at Delft, 1964 (Prof. J. A. Prince), Sheffield, 1970 (Prof. R. W. Douglas), Clausthal, 1976 (Prof. G. H. Frischat), Montpellier, 1982 (Prof. J. Zarycki), Kyoto, 1987 (Prof. S. Sakka), Cambridge, UK, 1991 (Prof. D. Pye), Turku, 1995 (Prof. K. Karlsson), Tucson, 1999 (Prof. M. C. Weinberg), Parma, 2003 (Prof. A, Montenero), Rhodes, 2006 (Prof. G. Kordas), Iguaçu, 2009 (Prof. E. Zannoto), Yichang Three Gorges, 2012 (Prof. X. Zhao), Niagara Falls, 2015 (Prof. A. N. Cormack), Saint Malo, 2018 (Prof. X. H. Zhang), and Canterbury, 2022 (Prof. A. C. Hannon and Prof. G. Mountjoy).

Continuing the tradition, the PNCS17 conference will provide a forum where scientists from all over the world can meet to present and discuss the latest achievement in the study of non-crystalline solids. The themes of the conference will be glass transition, relaxation in glasses, property-structure relationships, glasses under high pressure, and high-temperature liquids. We will also focus on the measurement techniques, technology and industry, functional materials, and theoretical and mathematical approaches.
